Message from the SASMFOS local organising committee (LOC)
A warm welcome to all congress delegates to the SASMFOS annual meeting at The Houghton Hotel, Johannesburg, the vibrant economic hub of Africa.
As always, it is an honour to host our colleagues at our annual congress, which will once again provide a fertile ground for cross-pollination and exchange of ideas. The LOC has arranged an intense, compact program with an array of topics covering the eclectic scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery. The theme of this year’s congress is:
Innovations in Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery: shaped by the past
and seeks to show the emergence of cutting-edge technologies shaping traditional practices in amongst others Orthognathics Surgery, Craniofacial Trauma, Implantology, Pathology and Cranio-facial Reconstruction. Sincere gratitude to all the speakers who have availed themselves to address these interesting topics.
A hearty welcome and hospitality await all our friends and colleagues who have come from across the continent and beyond to share their experiences and knowledge with us. The Annual SASMFOS meetings have become known for their quality and providing a conducive environment for robust debate and learning; and this year promises to be no exception.
No congress is ever successful without the hard work and support of the local organizing committee (in particular Onscreen, our event co-ordinator), who have worked tirelessly to bring you an excellent academic program and a social program like no other. A huge vote of thanks goes to all members of the local organising committee for all their hard work in bringing this congress to the City of Gold. Our deepest appreciation to Dr Emmy Nokaneng for her secretarial support throughout the planning for this congress.
